Special Features
It takes talent to work in Security at Pueblo Evita!
Many people would like to have the courage to make a major
change to their lives but few manage to do so. In 2002 we ran a feature for a
while spotlighting the talents that many of the staff here have that had nothing
to do with their jobs. Below is the Spotlight we ran on Tony our Head of
Security at the time. Then read on.
SPOTLIGHT
Fabian Antonio Baños Lopez – known to us all as Tony – has been a security guard
at Pueblo Evita for over ten years. He was promoted to Head of Security seven
years ago. What few people know is that Tony is also a talented artist.
He discovered at six years of age that he enjoyed drawing the characters from
the films Sinbad and King Kong. Tony has never studied art or taken drawing
lessons it just seemed to come naturally to him.
At fourteen Tony stopped drawing when his family made the move back to Spain
from England where they had been living. He found another interest instead
making his own animated films with a movie camera that his Grandmother gave him
as a present. He used actors / movable figures as models which he made from
plastecine. Tony made several films using stop motion photography. His favourite
themes were the dinosaurs and King Kong which he had always preferred.
At sixteen Tony turned his interests to sport especially boxing and of course
work. He is a very keen boxing fan and used to help run two boxing gyms here in
Spain before starting work at Pueblo Evita. He did not start painting again
until he was twenty seven.
Tony follows all the main boxers so it is not surprising that his latest
painting is of Naseen Hamed – one of the photographs we feature below. The other
is a painting of Rocio, the daughter of Merche our housekeeper. It is always a
pleasure to discover the talents of our staff here at Pueblo Evita.
NEW LIFE FOR TONY
Those owners who come regularly to P.E., especially those in July and August who
wanted to settle by the lower pool before it opened, will remember Tony and will
have noticed his absence this year. He had the job of keeping back the hordes
each morning while the pool area was being cleaned.
Tony and his lovely wife Sue decided on a complete change of lifestyle early
this year and went to Galicia to live in the country. They had been renovating a
house there over the last few years. At last Tony is now fulfilling his wish to
paint.
He promised to let us know about his new life and I think these photographs show
us what a marvellous new lifestyle he and Sue are enjoying.
We are all so pleased for them both and wish them everything good in the future.

GUEST NEWS

the Easter sunshine at Pueblo Evita
We had an interesting couple from France staying with us
recently. Roger & Anne Marie Valente drove from Marseilles to compete in The
European Dance Championships in Torremolinos. For those of you who might be
interested, this is an annual event held in Torremolinos each February and
brings people from all over Europe to compete.
The categories that Roger and Anne Marie competed in were Java, Paso Doble,
Tango and Viennese Waltz. They told us that they enjoyed their week here and
hope to return again next year.

Basil and Patricia Cooper have achieved quite a record here at
Pueblo Evita. This is the 21st consecutive year that they have spent five weeks
in Apt. 1053. I know that we have many long time owners, but I think Mr. & Mrs.
Cooper are the only ones who have not missed a year and who have stayed in the
same apartment for the duration. We look forward to seeing them every February
and we hope to continue welcoming them to Pueblo Evita for many years to come.
We would like to send congratulations to Basil and Patricia
who will be celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary in March.
